Fundamentals of Engineering Exam Information
Important!! Instructions for applying for the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam have changed! Please review the information for the April 14, 2012 Exam below and follow the check list:
Note: The registration fee is $125.00 paid directly to NCEES (formerly known as ELSES). This registration fee is non‐refundable. Detailed information is available at www.lapels.com and www.ncees.org.
1. Graduating seniors of four year engineering curricula Students may be permitted to take the Fundamentals of Engineering examination during their last academic year (Section 1303.A of the Rules of the Board). You must complete a Louisiana state application which is available on the Louisiana Board (LAPELS) website. Go to http://www.lapels.com/Applications/fe/FE_Student.pdf for the registration form and instructions. LAPELS is currently accepting on‐line applications for the April 2012 examination. The deadline for applications to be submitted to the LAPELS Office is January 27, 2012. Any registrations received after this date will not be considered for the April 14, 2012 exam.
LAPELS will verify your student status with the Dean of Engineering Office. Please be sure to complete your education section on your application so that LAPELS may contact the dean’s office to verify your eligibility.
2. All Engineering Graduate Students must apply directly to LAPELS (www.lapels.com) by December 1, 2011. Graduate students with a foreign undergraduate degree must obtain a credential evaluation from an LAPELS approved service provider. For a list of providers go to the link:
http://www.lapels.com/doc/Applications/fe/FE_Student.pdf. Graduate students will be notified by LAPELS regarding approval or disapproval of registration with NCEES.
3. Applicants who will no longer be enrolled as a student must submit the “Engineer Intern (Nonstudent)”
application to LAPELS. The form and instructions can be found on LAPELS website (http://www.lapels.com/docs/Applications/fe/FE_Student.pdf). Registration deadline information is available on the LAPELS website. Registration deadline for Non-students is December 1, 2011.
Non-student applications are not processed through the Dean of Engineering.
4. Eligible students must go to https://www.ncees.org/Exams.php and follow the directions to register for the exam and pay the $125.00 fee. The deadline for the registration and exam fee to be received by NCEES Examination Administration Services for the April 14, 2012 examination is 11:59PM EST, February 23, 2012. Any registrations received after this date will not be considered for the April exam administration.
PLEASE NOTE:
- Once you transmit your application to LAPELS, you will receive an email notification. If you have not received an email notification from LAPELS concerning the receipt of your application within one week of transmittal, please contact Janet@lapels.com.
- To ensure you receive all email communications from NCEES, please add noreply@ncees.org to your address book.
- A free up‐to‐date version of the FE Reference Handbook is available for download from the NCEES website.

The scheduled time for all sessions is 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Please note, the first meeting on January 19th occurs on a Thursday. All following meetings will be held on Wednesdays.
