Engineering Senior Michelle Meaux Awarded Honor

Alexandria, LA native Michelle Meaux was granted the 2009 -2010 Donald W. Clayton Engineering Excellence Award at the LSU College of Engineering Hall of Distinction ceremony.
Meaux graduated as co-valedictorian from Holy Savior Menard High School in 2006 and chose to attend LSU majoring in industrial engineering with a minor in business administration. She is scheduled to graduate in December 2010.
During her time at LSU, Meaux has been an active member of the Institute of Industrial Engineers and is the current president of Alpha Pi Mu, the industrial engineering honor society, plus she has held a number of elected positions in numerous organizations. After completing her undergraduate degree, she intends to further her education by pursuing a master's degree in industrial engineering to concentrate on manufacturing and production systems.
The Donald W. Clayton Engineering Excellence Award is granted each year to an outstanding undergraduate student who exhibits extraordinary character, scholastic achievement, and evident leadership in the College of Engineering. Nominations are made by faculty, staff, and students. The award entails a stipend of $5,000 and a commemorative plaque.
The award was founded in 2004 through a generous donation by Donald W. Clayton (BS PETE, 1959), who was inducted into the College of Engineering Hall of Distinction in 1993, and Gloria Pichon Clayton. The Claytons believe in the college of engineering's long history of success and are dedicated to aiding both undergraduate and graduate students to excel.
