Fenelon Nunes Earns Steimel Staff Excellence Award

Fenelon Nunes, Coordinator, of the Craft & Hawkins Department of Petroleum Engineering (PETE), was honored at the College of Engineering (CoE) Hall of Distinction banquet April 16, 2009, with the Edward J. Steimel Staff Excellence Award.
The nomination letter was unanimous in its recognition of Nunes. PETE faculty noted not only Nunes’ commendable manner, but also his willingness to learn and the dedication he expresses. “…the reason we are nominating Nunes is not solely for the exemplary way in which he performs his technician duties, but the outstanding dedication and work ethic that he has consistently demonstrated for 13 years.”
Nunes’ response espoused a shared feeling of gratitude. “I am deeply honored by this recognition of my work. My special thanks go to professors Zaki Bassiouni, Stephen Sears, Andrew Wojtanowicz, and Mileva Radonjic. I would like also to express my gratitude to my wife Luzia and my son Daniel. My work ethic, enthusiasm and performance all derive from my belief in God, love for my family and respect for this country."
The Edward J. Steimel Staff Excellence Award is applied to recognize any College of Engineering employee whose performance is commendable. This annual award was instituted in honor of Edward J. Steimel, the former director of development for the College of Engineering.
