The Louisiana Engineering Foundation has awarded LSU’s Dr. Thomas Ray, PE, the 2008 Engineering Faculty Professionalism Award. The LEF is a non-profit subset of the Louisiana Engineering Society seeking to promote public welfare by supporting the engineering profession. Every year, the LEP presents this distinction to one person at each institution in Louisiana that has an accredited engineering program. The award serves to recognize those faculty members who are licensed professional engineers, thereby helping students by endorsing professionalism in universities. On January 4, 2008, Dr. Ray and five other recipients from across Louisiana received plaques at the Joint Engineering Societies Conferences awards banquet in Lafayette. Dr. Ray has demonstrated exemplary service to the university and to the engineering profession as a whole. He has developed and taught numerous graduate and undergraduate courses for the University and around 100 courses for LSU Continuing Education. His students have voted him “Professor of the Year.” He also has worked as an executive for several residential contracting companies and performed industrial consulting for numerous firms.
