BP Academic Enrichment Center Grand Opening
October 17, 2007
Mr. Tony Rotolo of BP proclaimed, “We have a passion for bringing LSU students into BP,” as he cut through purple and gold ribbon at the October 16th grand opening of the BP Academic Enrichment Centers in Patrick F. Taylor Hall. Thanks to BP’s $75,000 gift, LSU Engineering students now have two top-of-the line study centers equipped with ergonomic seating, computer terminals, mobile marker boards and multi-configuration tables. The study center located on the 2nd floor is designed to accommodate students studying individually, while the 3rd floor study center is designed for students working together in group tutorials.
Associate Dean for Undergraduate Programs Warren Waggenspack expressed gratitude on behalf of the College of Engineering, remarking that “BP’s philanthropy has not only made an immediate impact by improving resources for student success at LSU, but also has set a precedent for giving that can inspire other companies to follow suit.” Cathy Dodge, Development Director for the college, added that BP’s gift constitutes a substantial step forward in the FOREVER LSU campaign.
