Podlaha Receives 2006 LSU Alumni Association Faculty Excellence Award

Elizabeth J. Podlaha-Murphy, associate professor and Clarence M. Eidt, Jr. Endowed Professor in Chemical Engineering, received the 2006 LSU Alumni Association Faculty Excellence Award, which recognizes faculty members for outstanding teaching, research, and/or service. The award consists of a $1,000 cash award funded by the LSU Alumni Association. She will be recognized at a reception on Tuesday, May 9, 2006, at the Lod Cook Alumni Center.
Podlaha-Murphy is graduate of Columbia University, where she earned a Ph.D. in 1992. Her research focus is electrochemical engineering, specifically the understanding and characterization of electrochemical processes for the development of new materials, processes, and applications. She has co-authored several journal publications and has delivered many papers at professional society meetings. Podlaha is a member of Tau Beta Pi, Omega Chi Epsilon, and Sigma Xi. She is the past recipient of Shell Foundation's Faculty Career Initiation Award and the NSFCAREER Award, among others.
