Hurricane Katrina and its aftermath have left many LSU College of Engineering faculty, staff, students and alumni homeless and/or with damaged homes and hearts. The College family expresses its deepest concern to all those affected by the hurricane.

As countless residents have left their homes to seek shelter elsewhere, there are many displaced individuals. Some have left Louisiana and may not return, while others have temporarily located to other parishes and some to other states.

In the spirit of LSU and the family here at the College of Engineering, the University has welcomed displaced students from universities affected by Hurricane Katrina and are currently being oriented and advised.

While many struggle with the unforeseeable future, the College wishes its best and wants faculty, staff, students and alumni to know that they have a home away from home. Also, we would like to hear from you to make sure everyone is safe, once you have settled and are at a more permanent address. Please contact Tammy Abshire, Director of Alumni and External Affairs at tammy@eng.lsu.edu.

The College is working alongside the University to accommodate the new faculty, staff and students arriving here at LSU, as well as doing its part to welcome new members to the Baton Rouge community. Many faculty and staff are actively engaged in rebuilding and research efforts.

Again, on behalf of the College of Engineering and LSU, we express our deepest concern and wish those affected by Hurricane Katrina the best in this time of recovery.
