Scholarships
The Women in Engineering Program received a $100,000 endowment from Keith and Karen Evans in honor of their parents. The Earl and Maryanne Evans Scholarship for Engineering Excellence will be awarded to a full-time female undergraduate student. The criteria for the scholarship included demonstrating a financial need and academic excellence. Preferences will be given to Louisiana residents and Petroleum Engineering majors. The first scholarship, worth approximately $4500, was awarded for the 2008-2009 academic school year.

Upcoming Activities, Services, and Initiatives
- Scholarships and Fellowships for Engineering Excellence: WEP seeks to provide 5 undergraduate scholarships and 4 graduate fellowships to high achieving female undergraduates and top female doctoral candidates.
- Academic Advising: WEP will provide academic advising and counseling to female students enrolled in the College of Engineering.
- Peer Mentoring and Tutoring: WEP will seek to provide mentors to freshman students to receive affirmation and strategies to succeed in engineering through academic and personal development.
- Education & Outreach: WEP will partner with the Society of Women Engineers to educate and tutor aspiring middle- and high-school female engineers in the Baton Rouge area.
- Distinguished Professorships for Engineering Diversity: WEP seeks to create two professorships to be offered to exceptional female candidates with demonstrated excellence in teaching and research, as well as the ability and willingness to mentor female students.
- Endowed Chair for Engineering Diversity: WEP seeks to fund this position to be held by a female faculty member committed to increasing the participation of women in engineering through teaching, research and mentoring.
