Recruitment into Engineering of High Ability Minority Students
In 1977, the first Recruitment into Engineering of High Ability Minority Students (REHAMS) program was held at LSU. This was the beginning of a formal, concentrated effort to recruit and retain minority students by the College of Engineering. Since then, the REHAMS program has provided pre-college students an opportunity to explore engineering through a holistic overview of the field by presenting both the academic structure and career possibilities.
- Interact with LSU engineering student leaders, faculty, and industry personnel
- Gain insight into what college life is like as a LSU engineering student and experience living on-campus
- Participate in hands-on activities, lectures, and industry tours while learning about the different fields of engineering
- Sharpen communication skills
- Learn about admissions and financial aid and what you can do to prepare for college
