Marathon High School Teacher Engineering Awareness Program

HSTEAP is an engineering program for teachers that is intended to aid educators in the pursuit of understanding engineering and developing curriculum strategies that support and strengthen science, technology, engineering and mathematics understanding and interest in high school classrooms.

Teacher participants have studied topics such as Using Engineering Notebooks, the Design Process, Sketching, Wind Turbines, Rainwater Harvesting, Simple Machines, and more!

Participants have also been introduced to hands-on engineering design and instrumentation focusing on the Engineering Grand Challenges, alternative energy sources and 21st Century Skills. The program has helped the teachers to understand the 12th Engineering Grand Challenge to the state of Louisiana, "Restore and Improve the Urban Infrastructure," especially regarding natural disasters.
