STEM-ENG2 Scholars for Success

NSF Logo

The mission and goal of the S-STEM: ENG^2 Scholars for Success program is to provide women and minorities additional financial resources and support to be successful in engineering. The program has also helped the college of engineering to recruit and attract talented but financially needy students from other states who might not have had the opportunity to attend LSU. For the 2009-2010 academic 12 sophomore scholars and 3 seniors are continuing in the program, and eight freshman and five upperclassmen have been selected to join as scholars. Additional upperclassmen scholarships will be awarded yearly based on available funds.

The cornerstone of the S-STEM scholar program is a professional skills seminar series. This program is designed to promote professional and personal growth as well as to highlight the value in working with people who have diverse interest, backgrounds and ideas.

Topics for the series include:

Career Management
Communications Skills
Professional Engineering Licensure
Impression Management
Community Service and Leadership
Team Building

Additionally, the program will highlight a national motivational speaker.
