Student Organizations
Learn Today – Lead Tomorrow
The student organizations play an important role in leading the efforts in student development career and leadership development. The chapters host workshops and panels facilitated by industry personnel, in resume writing, interviewing skills, and dressing for success. These opportunities serve as career networking connections for both student and employers. The students from the organization chapters also compete in "technical quiz bowls" and technical paper and poster competitions at both the regional and national conferences. The BP Study Center located in 2223 Patrick F. Taylor provides office meeting space.
National Society for Black Engineers (NSBE)
The LSU chapter of NSBE was founded in 1983. NSBE promotes the recruitment, retention, and graduation of black and multicultural students in engineering. The chapter consistently participates and provides leadership to the regional efforts with the Chapter President serving as the Vice Chair for Region five. The chapter's supporters are Centerpoint Energy, ConocoPhillips, Fluor Enterprise, The Dow Chemical Company, Chevron Products and the bp Foundation.

Society of Hispanic Engineers (SHPE)
SHPE is a national society of students and professional Hispanic engineers whose organization mission is to recruit Hispanic students into leadership in engineering and to serve as a link to the corporate world for its members. Through national and regional conferences and leadership symposiums, the members get the opportunity to interact with all of the nations' leading employers. Society of Women Engineers
The Society of Women Engineers LSU Section is a not-for-profit educational and service organization. It was established as a driving force and support system for women at LSU who aspire to be highly successful engineers. “SWE empowers women to succeed and advance in those aspirations and be recognized for their life-changing contributions and achievements as engineers and leaders” (National SWE). The LSU Section has been sponsored by ConocoPhillips, Fluor Enterprises, Inc., Dow Chemical Company Foundation, Chevron Products Company, and BP Foundation, Inc.
